Greetings fellow Tyrians and Canthans,

I have a small announcement to make on behalf of The Vanguard of Asylum [ASY] Guild. Hopefully, I've posted this in the right area, the "service" we're providing is better equipping newer players (or characters) to survive in the lands of Tyria and Cantha.

Since everyone starts out as a n00b in Guild Wars, no matter how many Magic Missles you've cast in other games, we wanted to do something for some of the newer players in the game, just before the release of Nightfall. All of us members of ASY have gotten help by someone with more experience than us, if not experience, a larger wallet, so why not continue the tradition of teaching and providing a little boost to the next player.

At approximately 9:00pm EST on October 17th 2006 in Shing Jea Monastery International District 1, we will be giving away 200+ grape, gold & green items to LvL10 and below characters. Please Note: You must have the Factions Campaign to reach Shing Jea Monastery International District 1. While we know someone can easily make a new character, we are not naive to the notion that well off players will come leech items off of us, but we would like to hope that isn't going to be a huge deal.

We have very few mods on hand, most are already placed into weapons missing mods (mainly for storage purposes), we are also not handing out dyes, runes, or materials. We have a collection of Axes, Swords, Hammers, Shields, Bows, Daggers, Staves, Wands, and Off-hands.

So if you're newer to the game, in need of a better weapon, drop by Shing Jea Monastery International District 1 tomorrow October 17th, 2006 around 9:00pm EST (-05:00 GMT) and we should be handing out weapons to the LvL10s and lower. And obviously it is a first come, first serve charity benefit. I have also instructed the guild members to deal with those who are atleast slightly polite, since while debating which town to hold the event in, I was far from amused at some of the immature bickering that went on back and forth in some of the towns. I probably would have clawed out my eyes if it weren't for removing the check in the box for Local.

If you, a friend, a guildie, or just some random guy walking past you in town is newer to Guild Wars and needs a bit of a weapon boost, have them come by Shing Jea Monastery International District 1 and look for one of us wearing an [ASY] tag, and we'll see if we have something to suit his or her needs. We're about 45 minutes until we're going to start handing things out.

Hopefully we won't have too many people trying to leech, but we won't let one bad apple spoil the whole damn bunch.

Thanks for the kind words Luuna Jade and Lance Death Bane.

Well, despite that it did start out as, putting it bluntly, a chaotic clusterf--k... We began at 9:00pm EST as scheduled, we successfully filled the district causing a second district to be created by 9:30pm or so, and we handed out the last items around 11:00pm EST. There were over 250 items, 150k gold, and a few mini pets as prizes during a trivia game distributed this evening.

I would like to thank two non-guildies, Tank For A Living and More Beers Plz for their donations to our cause. I would also like to thank everyone who came out, whether they were just hanging around to see what was going on, or there to get some freebies. For the most part, everyone was incredibly patient and polite, and on behalf of The Vanguard of Asylum [ASY], I cannot thank everyone enough for that.

Despite being short staffed tonight, I couldn't have done it without Pico, Funeral, Aneelia, KoS, and Busty who were the pack mules with the Trade Offer popping up repeatedly on their screens. I'd also like to thank all the gamers that went out and continued to announce the give away for us so we could keep all the ASY members in town dealing with the distribution of items.

The vibe was wonderful. The response from the masses was 10 times as large as we thought it would be. We hope everyone benefitted in one way or another from the event.

Once again, thank you to everyone who was involved and we appreciate the donations and turn out. We will most likely repeat this in the future with some minor tweaking to the organization, even if we spent a few months debating it and collecting the items, I'll coordinate the actual distribution far better in the future
